When I sent Patty a gift this morning, I suddenly wish that Chinese New Year didn't exist because she won't get it until the holidays are over. But I stumbled across some very nice strangers because of my mission today. First, in the queue, an old gentleman kept smiling at me, and in the end he couldn't help speaking mandarin to me. It was a Caucasian face, but his mandarin is so fluent. I think he must be Eurasian. Anyway, I gave him a compliment on that, and when he was about to leave, he said to me, "It's getting much colder today..." His words just felt so warm to me. Next the clerk (on the left side of the sketch) asked where I was sending the packet to. I replied, "Taiwan." He pointed somewhere next to him saying, "It's just around the corner..." I couldn't help thinking, "Yeah, why do I always believe it's so faraway?"
Though I was in a hurry to go to school, I couldn't help sitting down to sketch the lovely post office. Meanwhile, I kept hearing place names all over the world mentioned. I did a little bit of traveling in my imagination...
When I went to the supermarket in the evening, the old gentleman behind me pointed at the Warburtons white toast in my basket saying, "Try the crusty one next time! My father was a baker, and the crusty toast of this brand is the best I have ever tried." Can you believe that I got a person's precious life experience just like that?
I have a feeling that I am getting to be Ms. Congeniality...
