eL: There are surely more than one ME in me, but most of the time the calm and positive one dominates. Even if it doesn't, I've learned not to be led by the nose by the dark voice.
eL: Well, that depends on how you view the matter. You see, someone like me, will hardly create any master piece. So far, I've been a happy-toned person. I do believe that utter pain or heart-rending struggles is more likely to help come up with something overwhelming. I benefit from my bourgeois life, but at the same time, am limited by my complacent value.
On the other hand, after having fought against the gravity of the black holes during my dark periods, I also realized that everything all comes down to daily life. If I have to feel depressed most of the time in everyday life, I'd rather be a mediocre artist. I don't know about others, but I need a calm life in which I can seek the beauty of insiginificant details.
I've always wondered if there are happy artists whose works are above average or not so bad. I found this guy, Joaquim Sorolla while we traveled in Spain. I am looking for more examples.
In the meanwhile, try to cheer up. There is at least a happy reason for living, tell yourself so every morning when you open your eyes.
Josie, actually a lot of people made it possible, including those I like, and those I don't. What can you say? Even evil can conjure up a flower of goodness.
Miragee, someone like you discover ordinary details and record them down through your work and words in simplicity, that touch the depth of people like me actually. How we need to be as calm as you can be to observe the things which are within and without us :-)That is a "master piece" in a sense actually. No wonder so far you've been a happy-toned person. That is good to benefit from your bourgeois life, though at the same time, you are limited by your complacent value.
"If I have to feel depressed most of the time in everyday life, I'd rather be a mediocre artist. I don't know about others, but I need a calm life in which I can seek the beauty of insiginificant details. " These are comforting words for me, thanks since they balance me :)
And, I would like to know Joaquim Sorolla more......does he have any blog we may visit?
Ya, I don`t want to be where I was XD You too, cheer up!
"There is at least a happy reason for living, tell yourself so every morning when you open your eyes."
eL: I have my struggles as well. It's just that I try not to sound trivial...
You are surely very generous in giving compliments. If you give yourself some when in need, I am certain that it will lift you up!
I looked for websites related to Sorolla, and I found one with miscellaneous info. At least you can take a look at his paintings.
At first sight, his works appeared to be very American to me. I was reading a book of art collection by Art Insitute of Chicago, and I really had problems distinguishing his works from Sargent's or Whistler's. But in a way, his palette is even brighter than theirs. He is classified as a Post-Impressionist, due to his emphasis on light.

Miragee, r there more than one ME in you? Do you reconcile those MEs in you?
:)
佳欣:那你要加油喔!

Hey you are our sun shine :)
I like your expression: "but most of the time the calm and positive one dominates"
Most people need this very much.

Dear Miss You,
I like this story, too. Always refreshing. Thank you.

The first painting on the right side, Walk on the Beach, was the theme painting for the exhibition in El Prado Museum in Madrid this past summer.
