Esztergom / 小鎮風情 2

前方的大教堂就是Esztergom的地標，是歐洲僅次於羅馬聖彼得教堂和倫敦聖保羅教堂、第三大的羅馬天主教教堂。

The basilica ahead is the landmark of Esztergom. It is the third largest church in Europe, only smaller than St. Peter's Basilica in Rome and St. Paul's Cathedral in London. 

Esztergom在第十到十三世紀中曾是匈牙利的首都，隔壁緊鄰斯洛伐克，匈牙利人曾是統治階級，至今都還是很以其文化為傲。

Esztergom was once the capital of Hungary from the 10th to the 13th century. Across the Danube River is Slovak. The Hungarians used to be the ruling class, so even up til now, they still take great pride in themselves and their culture. 

Esztergom是匈牙利羅馬天主教最高主教所在地。

Esztergom is the seat of the primate of the Roman Catholic Church in Hungary.

Across from the Danube River is Slovak.

接下來我們開往更北的Esztergom，冬日的公路風景有蕭颯的美。

Then we drove toward Esztergom, 46 km north-west of Budapest. The winter roads have a charm of desolation and bleakness.

Szentendre / 小鎮風情 1

新年的一月一日不應該窩在家，即使外面下起雪來，卡洛還是不辭辛勞帶我們出城去布達佩斯北方的小鎮Szentendre. 

The first day of the new year shouldn't be wasted at home. Even though it had started to snow, Carol still drove us out of Budapest on small-town trips today. Our first stop was Szentendre, 25 km north of Budapest.

Szentendre位於Pilis山丘的山腳邊，是風景如詩的小鎮，曾是許多藝術家聚集之處，鎮上有不少博物館和藝廊。卡洛說後來因為觀光客過盛，藝術家都紛紛搬離。

Zsentendre is located at the foot of Pilis Hill. It is a picturesque town with lovely scenery. Many artists used to dwell here, and there are many museums and galleries. Carol said that after it was flooded with tourists, artists began to look for other quieter places.

Szentendre這個名字來自於塞爾維亞語，鎮上也有塞爾維亞人口，教堂也多以東正教風格為主。

The town's name Szentendre comes from the Serbian language. There is also some Serbian population. The churches are mostly Eastern Orthodox.
