Golden Route /

After our ferry ride across Geirangerfjord, we immediately hit the Norwegian County Road 63, driving on the winding mountain roads--the Ørnevegen (the Eagle Road) and Trollstigen, the latter open only from May to September. The two together are known as the Golden Route.

Constructing these roads required outstanding road engineering and building skills, but what's even more amazing is that they were built with the simple tools available back in the 1930s. Also, driving is a tremendous challenge for drivers for there are eleven hairpin bends on each road. After a 3.5-hour drive from Geiranger to Lillehammer, not only drivers but also passengers are physically and mentally exhausted.

It's fun to see locks of love everywhere in North Europe. I bet it's because natural scenery is so fascinating that people want to leave marks with their loved ones. I do have the strong desire to engrave everything I see in my head.

I might sound ungrateful in saying that I always end up feeling sick and tired of taking photos at the end of the day. However, when we reach the highest point, I can't help snapping photos upon seeing the magnificent views of mountains covered with thick layers of frozen snow.

I've made up my mind to go back to Norway in my lifetime!

Just right / 剛剛好

It snowed again last night. When I lived on the first floor, I was surrounded by white boys. Now on the third floor, my neighbors are Chinese girls. Whenever it snows, the girls will gather outside talking and laughing til midnight in excitement. I don't quite mind because if I keep complaining, I will end up being the nuisance of the block. When I told PK about my new life, he replied, "They are only twenty-years old! You are too serious. You don't want to play at all!" Maybe that's my problem.

Here I often see weird objects on the road, which means, they aren't supposed to be there. On my way to school this morning, I saw an abandoned baby's shoe. The amount of snow last night was just right. Everything was coated with a thin layer of snow, which made everything look beautiful visually. However, it didn't inconvenience the pedestrians.

Pigeons and grass weren't afraid of cold...

The printmaking room on Friday was deserted. There should have been 8 students, but only Wen Dee and I turned up. That was pretty nice too. We spent a very quiet and relaxing day in there.

On our second day in Budapest, we were lucky enough to be greeted by the snow. My young travel companions were especially thrilled at the sight of snow!

Despite the winter season, the streets were still colorful, bedecked with various colors.

When I came to Budapest two and half years ago, my happiest time was visiting the traditional market in Carol's neighborhood. In winter, there are still abundant agricultural products.

Hungarians love heavily-flavored meat products.

Compared with the UK, everything is relatively cheaper. We didn't have to hesitate when buying bread and desserts.

Seeing the locals queue up, our instinct was to follow suits. This is a kind of local food called langos. The fried batter tastes like a sort of Taiwanese snack named Twins. You can add ground garlic, cream cheese and shredded cheese on top.

Tram cars are a major means of transportation in Budapest.

Crowds come and go in the rail station.

The architecture here looks sort of weathered, but each of them is a fantastic example of art history lessons.

In the famous cafe Europa, a super creamy hot chocolate with a super sweet raspberry cake wrapped with chocolate cost only 3 pounds. As far as my weight was concerned, this was a deluxe luxury.

Walking on our way home, we feasted our eyes on the fabulous night views of Budapest on Margit Bridge. No matter how many times I've come, I'll keep marveling at the beauty of this city!
